Kraig's Kommentary:

From strictly a "keeper" point of view, the best players were Justin Thompson and Jeff D'Amico. None of the minor leaguers selected are of significant stature though Sadler might develop. The fact that this draft came so early on in the season is a big reason why the draft had few standouts and was largely "filler" material.

Kraig's Kommentary:

This second draft featured lots of good fillers but again, not many keeper type players. There were a few very nice picks however. Some of the best players taken were James Baldwin, Tony Batista, Jose Rosado, Miguel Tejada, Mike Cameron, Glendon Rusch, Jeff Abbott, and Bubba Trammell. With 6 picks, Greg made the most of them by picking up two major league keepers and two rookie keepers. I also had a strong draft getting one major league keeper and two rookie keepers with my 4 picks. Also, for only having ONLY the 29th pick in this draft, Dwayne did pretty good to come away with Tejada.

30. Johnathon Johnson, Tex - Jason

Kraig's Kommentary:

This third and final draft featured some solid prospect selections by almost everyone. There weren't many true keeper quality major leaguers taken, though Burnitz and Willie Adams are certainly protectable. The strength of the draft was the rookie prospects of which I count at least 7 to 8 of protectable quality. In total I think the best quality players were available in the second supplemental draft. There weren't as many protectable major league supplemental players chosen in the three drafts as I thought there would be, but there was a good handful of solid major league players. As an observation I'd have to say that Greg and myself made the most use of the supplemental drafts.Aside from whatever help was drafted exclusively for 1996, I count 3 major league keepers and 4 rookie keepers amongst my picks, and 2 major league keepers and 2 rookie keepers amongst Greg's picks. My early season failures netted me James Baldwin and Justin Thompson and those two could be the key to a turnaround in 97.
